Heat Adaptation & Mitigation

Sep 2023 – present

I am a PhD student focusing on analyzing housing structures and passive heat adaptation strategies in low-income communities in Africa; case study of South Africa and Ghana. I have a background in Meteorology (BSc) and Geo-Information Systems (MSc) and I have worked as a Researcher with various rural and urban communities in Uganda, USA and Indonesia.

I am interested in understanding the complexities between urban/rural critical systems and climate risks, climate change adaptation processes and approaches, translating science into policy and practice, multi-level stakeholder climate communication and engagement, knowledge co-production and implementation, citizen science, and using interdisciplinary tools to develop and implement climate change solutions.

When I’m not thinking about anything urban/rural critical systems or climate, I am probably indoors reading a non-fiction book, watching Netflix or listening to a podcast.
